Summary: A great classic-one of my favorite books!!
Comment: This book is really funny and also keeps you interested so that you won't put down the book till you have read it all!

The book is about an orphaned 11-year old girl named Anne Shirley. She has red hair that matches her temper, is skinny, and also has an unstoppable mouth! The two things she most wishes for is for a permanent and wonderful home and the other wish is that she becomes beautiful when she grows up. She has big imagination and a enormous heart which charms everyone she meets.

Marilla Cupberth and her brother Matthew are getting old and Matthew needs some help on their farm called Green Gables which is on and island called Prince Edward Island. Matthew and Marilla decides to adopt a boy around 11 or 12 to help Matthew. Some sort of queer mistake happens, Matthew calles it Providence later on, when Anne Shirley is sent from the orphanage instead of the boy they were expecting. Matthew figures that he couldn't leave her waiting at the train platform and brings her back to Green Gables, listening to her relentless tongue helplessly but rather enjoyingly.

Marilla is shocked and proposes to send her back to the orphanage the very next morning. Anne, being very happy about living at Green Gables, is very depressed. Marilla and Anne goes back to the orphanage where they discover that another woman who is very strict had been wanting a girl around 11 or 12. The orphanage lady quickly decides that Anne would be that girl. Marilla feels rather sorry for Anne and brings her back to Green Gables.

Anne, after being able to spend another night, is overjoyed as Marilla decides to let her stay permanently. Matthew is overjoyed too because he had somehow liked Anne's chattering. She meets a "busom friend" called Diana Barry at a picnic, cracks her slate over a boy called Gilbert Blythe who had teased her about her red hair in her first day of school, falls of the ridgepole of the roof of a house because of a dare, and dyes her hair green because she had wanted to make her red hair black! Fortunately, she does not stay a child of trouble, though she does stay a person who has a tongue which is used a lot. She passes an hard exam to collage and becomes first in every subject, always tieing with her hated rivalry Gilbert Blythe, who she has a grudge on since that day when he had called her hair "Carrots!". She also becomes a beautiful lady who has now auburn hair and no sign of her hated red hair. Marilla and Matthew has every right to be proud of her and you'll be proud with them as your read this charming book!

As I said before, this book is funny and also is soo interesting. I read this over 5 times and it has still not become boring. You'll love Anne Shirley forever as and after you read this book!

Summary: What a delightful book!
Comment: I don't have a daughter ~~ and after reading this book, I want to have a little girl with red hair like my sons and like Anne. =0) What a delightful character ~~ even when she seems to be vexing with all that chatter ~~ she's still a delightful person you would love to know in real life.

I have read this book when I was a girl and re-reading it again as an adult is still a wonderful journey. How a young girl with lots of imagination still takes the world ~~ at least Avonlea ~~ by a storm. Where a young girl is mistakenly dropped off at the train station ~~ when Matthew and Marilla Cuthbert had asked for a boy to help Matthew on the farm ~~ ends up being part of fate and the brother and sister who adopted her ended up being grateful that Anne came to live with them.

It is also a well-written book with lots of big words ~~ it's great story to encourage kids to read and it's a great moralistic story as well. It is a book that I will encourage my boys to read as well ~~ it's just pure fun. It makes learning fun.

I am glad this one is part of my classic library ~~ it's a treasure.

Summary: A Life's Heartwarming Infection
Comment: While many writers attempt to embellish on a character in such a way that can sometimes smother the reader, Montgomery presents a character (Anne) whose personality and being are naturally infectious and cannot help but attract others to her endlessly passionate thirst for life and love.

From the begining of this captivating story, one can see that Mrs. Anne Shirley is not as "simple" as she would beg to differ. Anne's move to Avonlea at the request of the unsuspecting Marilla and Matthew Cutbert becomes the begining of a new life for a girl who has dreamed of greater things but has remained innocent and locked in a world undestined for her brilliant mind.

Anne, "with and e," is what many see as a problematic and irrespectable orphan girl; Anne, however, grows in beaty and grace and seems to have a profound and enchanting affect on the many lives that she encounters.

Quite simply put, this novel is amazing and classic. Its words are simple and yet seem to have a timeless connection with people who have read them throughout the ages, both male and female alike. "Anne of Green Gables" is a most deligtful beginging that leaves a hunger for more, satisfied by the equally wonderful books in the series. For those who wish to find an outlet into a life of someone who seems to magnify the wisfulness and spunk of everyone's existce, read "Anne of Green Gables."
