Comment: Bilhah Nitzan does an excellent job synthesizing Biblical poetry with the important new finds of the poetry from the Dead Sea Scrolls. The author places the Qumran literature as an necessary link between Old and New Testament poetry. This book is extremely comprehensive in terms of the diversity of poetry analyzed and written about in these three areas. Especially intriguing is the work done with the poetry of the Dead Sea Scrolls. The author points out the differences of Qumran while still fitting them within the Biblical continuum. This is an important work for anyone studying religious poetry or interested in the Biblical studies.
