Summary: Excellent description of the 60's Peruvian Andes life
Comment: Ciro Alegria narrates the fictional story of an Indian Community in the Peruvian Andes that represents so much reality that is hard not to believe is part of the history of Peru. Beautiful prose, full colorful descriptions of Andean farmland views mixed with the feelings and characters that inhabit this wonderful land. Very fair picture of what happened to the native indians (of course, many of them already with hispanic heritage) in the 20th century which makes you realize that why violence could be easily adopted by these people as a way to solve the unfairness of a manipulated system.
