Comment: This is a wonderful book that portrays the story of a man, who's murdered as he gets down from his car, in front of his own home, and of course, there is no way of knowing who's guilty until the very last pages. As soon as Carlos' body touches the floor as he falls down, there is an out-of-body experience, he sees his body, and reluctlantly defies what had just happened. As the story progresses, he thinks about those many things we never think about when we are alive, and his mind is a storm of questions and thoughts that make us, as readers, wonder about our own existence as well. However, it's not just a philosophical experience, it has many hilarious issues that are intertwined between Carlos' son, now investigating her father's death, through the witty, savvy, and very intelligent private investigator who gives the story an unexpected twist while unraveling its mistery. This book taught me, now that I'm a teacher, to help students understand that there is only one life to live, and that we all have to be responsible beings to take good care of it, whether you believe or not, in the after-life or the supernatural.
