Rating: 5
Summary: One of the all-time classics
Comment: This is one of a handful of must-have origami books. It contains a landmark treatment of modular origami as well as many terrific animal and novelty folds (i.e. vegetables, pinecones, etc).

Kawasaki's rose and spiral snail shell are included and these models alone make the book worthwhile. Several Peter Engel models are there, with better diagrams than Engel gives in his own book!

This is NOT a beginner's book. Even the most experienced folders will have trouble with many of the models in this book, but your efforts will be rewarded.

One warning: Do not attempt to fold Montroll's stegosaurus from the diagrams in this book. The diagrams in Montroll's "Prehistoric Origami" are far superior and give better results.

Summary: Origami Gems
Comment: This book is an inspiration to the novice as well as the experienced paperfolders. Awesome beauty and lively character, as well as unique folding sequence of many models provide hours of folding enjoyment. The selection of models is diverse enough to suit everyone's taste. Most models are relatively challenging especially those which do not lie flat during the folding sequence, and for which the instruction diagrams may be hard to grasp. My favorite model is the rose by Kawasaki. It took me a while to successfully execute the entire folding sequence. The diagrams helped but at times, I had to guess what to do.

Summary: Excellent book.
Comment: Very good book. It encompasses quite a large variety of styles, from multiple modellers. It doesn't just show you how to make certain models, it attempts to give the folder a greater understanding of the mechanics of origami. Many of the more interesting models are fairly advanced, and some of the diagrams are confusing if you don't have an idea of what they're trying to do before they do it, so I wouldn't recommend it to beginners.
