Summary: Good as an introduction
Comment: This text is a more or less modern approach to a classical subjet. The way it tackles the solution of PDE's, though stated in a modern language, is indeed dated, I mean, it employs mostly the traditional "down-to-earth" analytic approach instead of the more modern and efficient operator approach. However, undergraduate students will find it very useful to get acquainted with practical methods for actually solving PDE's, and then they can proceed to deeper study on the analytic properties of the solutions (the real goal of abstract PDE theory).
Some of the topics covered in the book are orthogonal functions, separation of variables, the characteristic method, D'Alembert's method, integral transforms, Green's fuctions, and more.
