Summary: a great beginning
Comment: Background:
David Solomon -- or Soda -- is a cop in NY. His mom doesn't know this. She thinks that he is a priest. Luckily she never leaves her apartement and she does not watch nor read the news (it's too violent the news in NY as compared to her hometown in AZ)
Short summary of the story:
Soda is on the trails of d'arcy, a nurse who is wanted for alledgedly killing some patients and selling their organs on the black market. However, there is more than meets the eye.
Review:
since the writer is European, this is his view of NYC, and it is a very typical European one; there's a lot of crime in NY, with lots of poor people, and corrupt people. Did this bother me? no. This is the writer's view and it works for the story.
Especially in European comics (this one was written in the early 90's) I see a lot of movie influences. Stylistically, if one did not know that this is a "comic" one would say that this is a movie...from the opening car chase that end at the zoo to the end with people who were bystanders from the car chase.
The action is nicely paced with the story. There is no dull moment. And like I said before the point of view is that of a camera. And eventhough some elements are cliche (suspect who is innocent) the story does not dwell on those cliches thanks to the unusual antagonist.
