Summary: Great Witchcraft Beginners Guide, especially for Aussies..!
Comment: This guide incorporates traditional elements of Witchcraft, such as Gardenerian and Alexandrian, as well as personal & modern elements from the authors. It is a reference particular suited to the Southern Hemisphere as it uses sabbat dates according to Southern seasons in addition to the norm (ie. Spring Equinox festival listed under September as per Aussie seasons, as well as the northern hemisphere dates in March).

This books starts from the basics, such as learning about Gods and Goddesses a bit, about what witchcraft involves, and learning to cast circles and a basic Book Of Shadows. There are also sections on ethics of magick which is great. It moves on to more complex sabbat & moon rituals, as well as including event-rituals such as handfastings (pagan marriage ceremony), requiem (funeral) and wiccanings (pagan baptism/namegiving/blessing). There is also a handy section including witchy recipes (food) which is quite an enjoyable addition to the usual! Incense recipes are also included, however.

This book related to Aussie witchcraft specifically but could easily suit any beginner or seeker of knowledge in either hemisphere! The rites can be applied as easily North of the equator as in the South.

The book focuses on Wicca but can be related to many other pagan/witchcraft paths. The straight-forward approach can seem a little impersonal at times, but it is very informative, clearly presented and concise in its overall delivery. One of the authors, Julia, is the editor of the international magazine "Web of Wyrd". Overall, a handy, very informative little book!
