Summary: Good at the basics, but fails to inform you of pitfalls.
Comment: This book does a good job of going through the basics of each of the conventions presented. The material is presented in a very digestible form. However, the book sometimes fails to inform you of hands where you will simply be stuck for a proper bid and that is also essential when learning a convention. Good for relative beginners, but I do not recommend this for advanced players.

Comment: 1999 Intermediate/Novice Bridge Book of the Year. Each convention is clearly and concisely explained and how it fits into a standard bidding system. Learn how and when to use each and know what your opponents are doing.

Summary: Bridge Intermediates' Bible
Comment: This is an excellent book for all bridge players, except perhaps for the complete novice. I own about 25 bridge books, and this is the one that I find myself going back to over and over. It's clear, up-to-date, easy to follow, and has just the right level of detail. The examples are very helpful. It covers Jacoby, weak 2 bids, takeout and negative doubles, as well as more sophisticated stuff.
