This is the most comprehensive wedding guide on the market. Whether you are trying to save money or not this book takes you on an insider's tour of the racket the authors like to call the 'Wedding Industrial Complex'. Through years of researching services they tell you what to look for, ask and expect from vendors and let you in on discount services and websites. More importantly it exposes any scams a vendor might pull to rip you off. The 140+ pages on dress shopping were the biggest eye opener to me. Above all its very easy to understand and well organized.

Summary: Throw a fantastic wedding on a fantastically low budget!
Comment: I stumbled across this book while searching through what seemed like thousands of planners, workbooks and etiquette books at the bookstore. I was attracted to its unique shape (neither the standard small paperback size nor an oversized, hard-to-carry hardback) and found that it's contents were exactly what I needed. (The size of the book makes it easy to carry, tuck under your arm or stick in your purse while out and about!)
The book is divided into chapters by topic - flowers, the dress, food, DJs, etc. The chapter on invitations helped me the most, I ended up ordering beautiful invitations for $...each from a mail-order catalog that I would have been wary of before. There are tons of ways out there to save money and still have the wedding you've always dreamed of. This book provides a wealth of knowledge about everything that is out there and available to you but may be a bit off the beaten path. The authors are very thorough in covering all aspects of wedding planning and leave nothing out.
This book helped me to explore lots of options in every area of planning my wedding. They have so many suggestions and creative ideas in addition to a great summary of the usual planning ideas, tips and tricks. Planning a wedding can be very scary and intimidating and this book left me feeling prepared and armed with a wealth of knowledge when I went through planning my fantastic wedding!

Summary: An excellent research guide!
Comment: I am currently in the planning process. This book has given me the information I need to plan my wedding exactly the way that I want. I've been able to avoid the industry wedding invitation trap by using book tips and the internet. I found the dress that I wanted, with the help of the designer reviews section. I've been able to avoid several large additional fees from the caterer that I've hired and the reception venue, because those fees were explained very clearly in this book.
I noticed that there were several reviewers that did not like the short-cuts and money-saving tips that the authors recommended. There were a few tips that were not ethical, but most of them help the reader deal with retailers who are just out to make a buck, at your expense. I'm sure that it would be nice, in a sad, self-indulgent way, to expect your middle class parents to foot the bill for your gala, $100,000 wedding event-the one that society seems to think is necessary. But the bottom line is, most brides (and their families) can't afford to do that, don't feel the need to, or don't want that type of wedding. And this book is exactly the resource needed to have a beautiful wedding that fits your ideals and your budget. It's the only wedding book that has been useful in my planning process.
