Summary: OK book, for ideas at least.
Comment: I've read through this book and found it a decent book for ideas about various tricks to teach your dog. However, it gives you very little info about how to train your dog! Nor does it prepare the unitiated with the typical responses that you might expect from your dog during the initial training phases, or how to react to various situations.
Finally, the book is dated. Written in the late 70s it doesn't cover newer trainer methods. Some of there methods could really use updating (i.e. there is very little in the way of motivational training, mostly corrective training is used. If you and your dog want to have fun shouldn't it be a little less work for them?).
I highly suggest skipping over this book, unless you need help in new trick ideas and are confident that you and your pooch can work well together.
There are a few other books out there that are newer and stress the fun aspect of dog tricks much better than this one did.

Summary: A fun and inexpensive hobby you and Fido will love!
Comment: The director for the largest school of theatrical dogs on
the E.C. demonstrates how to teach nearly 100 tricks
you and your dog will enjoy performing together.
The book easliy divides tricks into related classes.
Also includes an aptitude chart to help the novice select the
easiest tricks for his dog. Basic obedience training is not
included in this book but is necessary for some of the tricks.

Summary: Don't waste your money!
Comment: Sorry, this book is total garbage. It was written as a cutsie atempt to package old training techs. that didn't work very well in a new shiny package to line the author's pocket.
If you've attended *one* basic obedience class anywhere, you know more than the author - save you money, there are tons of good books about dog tricks. This is not one of them, however!
