Summary: I didn't want to return this book to the university library.
Comment: This book was beautifully written. Concise, yet thorough. The essays offered excellent explanations of Lorna Simpson's more recent work. The simplicity of the photos was underscored by the author's ability to explain, in detail exactly what Simpson's intent is in each photograph. The photos and text tell stories so well you feelas if you're watching a scene from a movie or playing the role of voyuer. The bathtub scenes between two Black women are powerful. Whenever I feel beaten down by racism and sexism I just remember, 'You. . . will. . . see. . . me.' Although it's a small book, I referenced it several times in my thesis. This book is probably one of the reasons I received less criticism from my committee on my Lorna Simpson section than any other part in my project. I loved Interior/Exterior, Full/Empty so much I kept it almost 6 months.
