Summary: A Good Read, but, Please, Don't Be Fooled!
Comment: This is a good book and all, and a great story, but it reall has nothing to do with anything magickal or occult. The Necronomicon was a creation of Howard Philips Lovecraft. He donned the name Abdul Al-Hazrad after reading "Arabian Nights". In fact the very name of the author of the Al Azif (The arabic original) is flawed. Abdul is not even a true Arabic name. The propper name should have been Abd Al'Azrad (The Worshiper of the Great Devourer/Strangler), though this could be attributed to a clerical error, it's still a "nice" conveinience for those looking to support this misassociated document. There is also proof in letters to several corespondances by Lovecraft himself, claiming authorship of the mystical book, and deeming it a work of fiction... I've yet to find a good version of a Necronomicon that seems factual to all it's word... But it's a good read nonetheless... Completely Fictional but a good read!

Summary: A formidable peice (and hopefully nothing else)
Comment: I am no expert in the fields of religion, demonology, or ancient Sumeria, thus I will refrain from making any statement on the authenticity of the book. However, it does contain some very heavy material. If I knew for a fact that it was a hoax, I would have given it five stars just for being so elaborate. This is not something I would play with. I don't particularly believe in demons, but 500 years ago people didn't particularly believe the earth was round or that planets exsisted outside of our solar system either. The book was eloquently executed and gave me a case of the chills the likes of which I haven't expirienced in quite some time. It was certainly worth the price and the shipping and handling, and I will probably end up reading it again before the year is up. As for our friend from Atlantis, Judeaism, Christianity, and Islam are the three largest religions in the world, and all three base their faith in the old testament (that's part of the Bible, in case you're wondering). I asure you that a great deal of those "primates" are much more highly evolved than yourself.

Summary: Lenormant-Laurent connection
Comment: Given that "Science Occult; La Magie chez les Chaldeens ; by Lenormant" and "La Magie et la Divination chez les Chaldeo-Assyriennes; by Laurent" have been mentioned, be it known neither of the volumes mentioned record the word NECRONOMICON, nor any likeness. One can assume that 'NECRONOMICON' is simply a fictional rendition of the title 'BOOK OF THE DEAD'. There are several of these from several areas. Assuming that a book called NECRONOMICON did exist prior to this century, there is no reason to assume this volume would be it. For a magician, objective validity is as much about truth as is belief. A certain store in New York, called THE WARLOCK SHOP, are variously claimed to own originals, though they will not visually verify. Only the publishers of the book make any connection, though the hoaxers were likely aware of these books, and kept them in mind during authorship. Interesting, but valueless.
