Summary: Dissapointing
Comment: I expected so much. I am disapointed at this "ad hoc" written book.
It would have been worth more had the author left the pages blank for my notes.

Summary: Shallow veneer can not hide flaws.
Comment: I try to read everything on the subject of the Jena, and I cannot readily remember a Napoleonic book that gives a stronger impression of one that was more quickly thrown together. A couple of the pictures are good, but the narrative suffers from a stunning lack of any proper anaylsis, almost as if the author was not enthusiastic about spending any in-depth treatment one the subject. In sum, it was a dissappointing treatment of one of Napoleon's best campaigns.

Comment: This book on Jena-Auerstadt does a pretty good job of introducing the reader to the complex Franco-Prussian campaign of 1806. I thought that the work seemed to be put together rather quickly, and that the battlefield photos were not labeled well enough for easy orientation. Nonetheless, the battlefield photos were a great extra for the price, and the book was a great introduction to anyone interesting in this fascinating, and my personal favorite, Napoleonic campaign.
