Comment: You've REALLY DONE IT, Doug! You've whipped up a spicey concoction that's going to drive the would-be adventure-jockey, life hungry, want-to-be-crazy world traveler right out of his hestitant gourde! And out his/her/or both very secure, nicely decorated, risque but not too avant garde, adventuresome(but don't cut the umbilical to my comfortable lifestyle/ego-building job, if you know what I mean) condo in Priveleged Land America(or whevever). But, Doug, you've gotta ask: are any of them EVER coming back! These are people who have already inched their way right up to the very edge of the Abyss. These are not your ordinary, tight-ass, don't risk anything,(especiallly the pension plan for the suffocatingly loyal), smoozlers! These people have already jumped out of airplanes. They"ve braved the most carnivous rapids and jungles of the world. They are not bluffing. Believe you me! They are diving for the jugular of existence! They want it all! And you are at the head of the pack, Doug! You can tell EVERYONE where to go! THAT'S a unique privelege!

Summary: Good help, but nothing earthshattering
Comment: This book is different than most guide books in that it is specifically about travelling around the world. However, there is nothing in it that you can't find in any world travel guides. ALSO, it might be helpful to know that this is written from a British perspective rather than an American one.

Summary: this is the BEST book!
Comment: My husband and I are planning an extensive around-the-world trip for next year. While we are travel-savvy, we have never done this type of trip. Also, we are in our 30s, so we aren't doing a true "backpacker" trip, nor will it be luxury travel, it will be somewhere in the middle. This book is a MUST for anyone planning an extensive trip. It gives you the lowdown on a hundred topics, from medical/health, insurance, etc to basic overviews of the different regions and countries. It gave us a LOT to think about, and has me doing further research on issues that I had never even thought about. A MUST READ!!
