Summary: An amazing book not afraid to challenge popular beliefs.
Comment: Yes, this is a radical book. Joshua Harris talks about his own personal decision not to date and how dating is against the vision that God has for each one of us. I prejudged the book before I read it, and after reading just one chapter, I realized how wrong I was, and finished the book in awe of what the author had to say and how incredibly logical it was.
I am an 18 year old college student who can barely call myself a Christian. I do not read the Bible, I do not go to church, and my lifestyle is the complete opposite of what Joshua Harris preaches in this book. My attention span on religion usually lasts a few minutes, and this is the first Christian book I have been able to finish.
This book gave me valuable insight into the way that teens date defectively and I would recommend it to any teen, Christian or not. The author was only 21 when he wrote this book and is able to relate it to young people very easily. This book gives love and dating a whole new meaning.

Summary: This book is a return to God's way
Comment: Some of the other people who have written reviews seem to miss the point - It's not about "not dating" it's about not having the mentality of dating. Our culture places hope in breakup after breakup, and the only thing it has done is make our divorce rate go through the roof. What we need is a return to respect for God and respect for purity.
What Josh is trying to say is that we need to get rid of this idea of dating anyone who passes by, and instead wait to get to know someone as a friend, see how they act, see how they communicate. Once we get to really know them(something that never happens in a dating relationship because of the "feelings" you have) then we can decide if persuing a relationship would be the best thing.
I'm a guy, and unlike another reviewer, I still hold with Josh. Challenge your beliefs about dating, it will be worth it. Read his second book "Boy meets Girl". He's honest about his relationship with his wife. How he met her, how he pursued, and how he stayed pure until his wedding day. That's what it is all about.

Summary: He means well, but he's pretty misguided
Comment: I read this book a few years ago, backed out of the early stages of a relationship, but shortly after got involved with a girl I've now been with for several years. His book applies to the Christian teenager who likes to jump from relationship to relationship constantly and has no serious intent in ever getting married. He comes across as being incredibly strict, which I found to be unrealistic and unnecessary. If you are finding all your dating relationships to be wastes of time, this may be for you. If not, this book will only needlessly discourage you.
