Summary: Well-written, but needs more illustrations
Comment: A well-written, readable text describes what causes volcanoes, where they are found, and how they can be predicted, as well as recounting the histories of Mount Vesuvius and Mount St. Helens. The accompanying photographs provide stunning views of eruptions, as well as a gruesome close-up of one of the victims of Vesuvius. However, the book lacks photos and diagrams to clarify some of the topics, like the different types of volcanoes and lava, which are described in the text but not illustrated. Includes a glossary, an index, and a table of contents, as well as a list of three websites (one of which is defunct).
