Summary: Anti Feminist Rebuttal
Comment: The feminist 1 star review written April 2001 by a reader from lithia springs, ga united states is totally irrelevant and doesn't even relate to the content of the book. This book has nothing to do with feminism and feminist superiority aspirations. Jesus the Christ did liberate women dramatically (see John 4 and the witness of the women at the cross and the tomb). And furthermore, all are saved to be one in Christ, Jew and Gentile/nonJew, men and women, etc. No distinctions. Receive Jesus for yourself, and be free, dear sister!
Today, 4.21.2004, I re-read parts of the book in preparing my lessons for this coming Adult class. I found the book compellingly persuasive and extremely well written.
Highly recommended, even though it's out of print. Worthwhile to buy used or search for new copies (like my nearly new copy).

Summary: You'll want to read this more than once.
Comment: A superbly written book for believers and non-believers who want to know more about Jesus. The book answers it's title question from the perspective of Biblical witnesses as well as Jesus' own statements. It offers some interesting non-Biblical opinions, my favorite being a memorable quote by Napoleon. I've read this book 3 times and have purchased 3 copies for others, all of whom really enjoyed it. If you were going to choose only one book on this subject, let it be this one.

Summary: your kidding me right!!!!!
Comment: This is a joke right!!! Is this supposed to be serious scholarship. So where do I begin with my problems with it. On page 18 he says Jesus's message improved the lives of women. Oh really?? Did no one notice Jesus had no female apostles. He was rude to his mother at the wedding of canna. Well lets look at history, christian believes condemned over 250,000 women to be burned alive between 1450-1750. It wasnt until the 20th century that women began to be given equal rights, and this was because of liberal thought which was opposed by the clergy. On page 19 he says that are legal codes are based on Jesus's teachings. Oh really, I just thought all these years US and English legal codes were based on the Pagan society of Rome. So why didn't Jesus once condemn slavery if he was such a force for moral justice. Oh why were are at it, lets call the Declaration of Independence a Christian document when anyone with a grasp of history knows it is a DEIST document. Oh I could go on and on, but lets just say they did the typical nonsense of taking Old testament prophecies out of context to make it seem like it applies to Jesus, let misrepresent the believes of Ingersoll and Paine and lets try to rewrite history. Well This is all I gotta say, but one star is to much. Utter trash
