Title: No More Wacos: What's Wrong With Federal Law Enforcement and How to Fix It by David B. Kopel, Paul H. Blackman ISBN: 1-57392-125-4 Publisher: Prometheus Books Pub. Date: 01 March, 1997 Format: Hardcover Volumes: 1 List Price(USD): $33.00 |
Average Customer Rating: 4.56 (18 reviews)
Rating: 5
Summary: A classic on the destruction of civil rights in America!
Comment: Kopel and Blackman have succeeded in producing a tome which is both accessible to the average reader and meticulously documented to aid those who would take an active stand to reverse the tide of tyranny. Make no mistake--the systematic growth of federal law enforcement and its destruction of the Tenth Amendment (among others) outlined in this book constitutes tyranny.
Waco provides the initial focus and springboard, but the authors are able to bring in a great deal of detail regarding Federal law enforcement abuses that go well beyond that single, horrible incident that still cries out for justice.
No More Wacos provides, in the end, some very common sense approaches to halting this oppression. Alas, decisions like the recent Horiuchi whitewash declaring federal officials exempt from state criminal sanctions, seem to moving us in the other direction.
Every person who cares about liberty owes it to himself to read--NO--to study this book.
Rating: 5
Summary: A valuable analysis and reference for future reforms.
Comment: This work is not only an outstanding explanation of the Waco and Ruby Ridge incidents, but a critical review of modern federal law enforcement. The book goes beyond sorting out -- in meticulous detail -- what really happened in these debacles. Even more valuable is the objective analysis of the abuses and excesses of federal law enforcement, along with suggested remedies.
This book is a "must read" for anyone concerned with civil liberties or law enforcement.
Rating: 5
Summary: Investigative writing at it's best!
Comment: Kopel and Blackman did more than just their homework on this book. It is perhaps the most factual yet interesting critique on the way in which federal law enforcement operates today. The attack on Mt. Carmel is a very important even in the history of this nation and only from our mistakes can we change the future. This review I believe is especially credible since I read but certainly don't always like David Kopel's writings. Highest recommendation and a great source for research papers.
