Summary: Not only a view of the history but a glimpse into the future
Comment: To a native Houstonian, the names and faces are familiar, almost "household names". These were the men who shaped not only surgery but medicine in Houston. This is a well-written, motivating review of those who have been held in such high regard. Within the pages, one finds not only the science of surgery but the art and romance of a profession. It is with great enthusiasm that I recommend this book to all who have an interest. There is one man missing from the list of Houston's Surgical Leaders and that is the Editor of the book, Dr. Mattox himself.
