Summary: So few items listed, it's virtually useless ...
Comment: I purchased this because I wanted information on the glycemic index of foods beyond what is readily available on the Web. The additional foods it does have are brands that are either obsure in our area or obviously not anything anyone on a low glycemic plan would consider eating. Not sure what the authors were thinking here ...

Summary: The only thing you will lose reading this is your patience!
Comment: This is a confusing, contradictory, disjointed book with a very limited list of low GI foods at the end of the book. The first "red flag" was in the preface when it said, "This book has been written to be read alongside The Glucose Revolution, so in the event you haven't already consulted that book, please be sure to do so, for a more comprehensive discussion..." On page 25 it states, "Calorie-laden foods...such as alcohol, chocolate, potato chips and candy, provide few nutients.....they are best limited to no more than one or two servings per day." On page 37 it states, "Eat low carbohydrate foods such as carrots, broccoli and salads freely, but don't eat them instead of the high carbohydrate foods." This book is very hard to follow. In my opinion, the book seems to be thrown together just to get it out on the market quickly.
I am very disappointed in the Reader's Digest for recommending this book.

Summary: You Lose!
Comment: Short, sweet and a great reminder to exercise more, reduce fat calories and consume carbohydrates with a low glycemic index rating. Clearly explained, my choices of carbos will change because of the information in this book. Unfortunately, their A-Z table of low GI foods is very limited, which puts a damper on really using this information to the fullest extent. I enjoyed the suggestions for meals and do believe I can lose weight by following the recommendations in this little, but impactful book.
