Summary: An excellent Biblically based guide for marriage
Comment: Despite what other reviewers have said, I did not, in any way, get the impression that Mr. Barnes was suggesting that women should be a man's maid or that they cannot succeed in a career. Rather, he is suggesting that we all, men and women, use the Bible as our guide in our relationships. He suggests that we both look in ourselves for our individual strengths and weaknesses and rather than compete with each other, we should compliment each other. We should also work to make our relationship with our spouse the biggest priority in our lives, above careers, other interests, etc. Too often we allow outside interests and influences distract us from our true beliefs and values. I am a computer consultant, mother and wife and found this book to be truly enriching and inspiring. If you want to be married for the next 50 years, and are willing to follow the Bible, this is the book for you!

Summary: A Wonderul Book For Any Willing Woman to Read
Comment: This book was WONDERFUL. But the only catch is, if you are not a Christian who believes in the concepts taught in the Bible, you will NOT agree with ALL the principles found in this book.
I am a female myself, and yet I still found the book encouraging, helpful, proper, and morally and biblically correct. I could not put it down!
Some people who read the book feel that Mr. Barnes was woman-bashing. Let me make it clear that we as women are not to be treated as doormats. That was not God's intention when He made us, and any REAL man, Christian or not, would NOT want to take advantage of a woman. Any man who would take advantage of a submissive wife does not understand God's principles on love and the structure of marriage. And we as women must understand that with the help of the Lord, our prayers, support, and actions can be what helps our husbands to be overcomers and super-achievers!
This book was written to (1) show us the principles that God outlined in the Bible regarding relationships and marriage, and (2) show women what they could do to improve their marriages.
Mr. Barnes wasn't advocating women as doormats. He was advocating GREAT principles for improving your marriage that are based on truths found in the Bible itself.
I am not married yet, so no one is making me believe what I have read. But I love the Lord, and hope to have a strong marriage one day. I can't WAIT to apply some of the wonderful principles I have read in this book! If you are interested in finding ways to improve your marriage, why don't you get the book, apply the teachings, and see what happens?

Summary: This book was upsetting to me
Comment: I read and understood this as book where men are taught and must feel they are in control of their woman and her live. I felt like a woman could not have her own thoughts and she couldnt rise in the corporate world. My husband is very good doing domestic work and I work well in the corporate world. I know that this is not for everyone but the author of this book made me feel like I am not an equal. Women fought hard to get the right to vote and to have legal aborations, I WILL NOT A MAN TELL ME I AM NOT WORTHY. I did like the parts in the book about being a better father, and having a better marriage as a couple. The parts I didnt like were where women should be sensitive and not be strong. I am both. I just couldnt bring myself to like this book for more than two stars and that was generous.
