Comment: I have read this novel in English and in Spanish, and I have found it is one of the best books I have ever read. Historically, It gives you a realistic glimpse of the fall of the Turkish Empire, the life in Lebanon and the life in India during the last days of the British Dominion. The author is sensitive and takes you through the joys, pains and every day struggles of her mom. She transports you from courts & palaces to simple places back to palaces.
