Summary: What is the Schwarzbein-Somers Connection?
Comment: I, too, bought the first book and loved it. When number II came out, I bought three copies for family and friends. The second book is more comprehensive, and I like that, but it is also repetitive and less well organized. Besides, I was left with a disturbing question: What is the Schwarzbein-Somers connection? Dr. Schwarzbein wrote the foreward for Suzanne Somers' "Get Skinny on Fabulous Food" and Somers wrote a testimonial for Schwarzbein's book. However, Schwarzbein's principles contradict Somers' ideas. For example, Somers says one must eat fruit alone while Schwarzbein says fruit must be eaten with a protein and a good fat. And Schwarzbein does not believe in food combining which is at the core or Somers' program. What's going on here? Someone please explain!

Summary: READ CHAPTER 11
Comment: I bought The Schwarzbein Principle and found it to be a great book about health and nutrition. When I heard she had a second book out there, of course I ran out to buy it. This book is similar to the first one and the only major difference is that she goes more into depth about the subjects she covered in the first one and she added some other subjects. There is one chapter in this book that makes buying this book worthwhile, that is Chapter 11 - Healthy Nutrition. This chapter has so much information regarding do's and don'ts of a well balanced nutrition, that if I had to pick one chapter out of the whole book, this would be it. With this chapter, you will be happy to find out that there is a vast array of healthy foods so that you won't feel like you are on a diet while trying to get back on track with your well-being. One thing about the Schwarbein Principle, it is not a diet, it is a way to healthy living. I also bought her cookbook and was very delighted to find some tasty, easy to prepare recipes. Way to go Diana............

Summary: a true life saver
Comment: I was directed to begin this diet on the advice of my naturopathic doctor. I was amazed upon reading this book how much damage I was doing to myself. I am only 30 years old, yet felt like I was 50. I felt so burnt out. That is what led to my visit to my doctor. She figured out that I am a step away from becoming diabetic, which runs in my family. Upon her advice, I restructured my lifestyle and eating habits with amazing results. I never realized how vicious the cycle was that I was in. I would stay up too late, drink too much alcohol at night to relax, and then literally have to drag myself out of bed, usually waking up much later than I should be to get myself and my daughter ready for the day. I found myself addicted to caffiene merely because it was necessary to get through the day. My job requires me to be alert, so that's where the stimulants came in handy (Vivarin). Then I would go home and have a drink to relax, go to bed too late, and wake up and start all over again. Since beginning this diet, I am amazed at how much more real energy I have from getting a good night's sleep and following Dr. Schwarzbein's Principle. The book is full of information and a bit overwhelming at first, but it all makes sense. I suggest taking it in small doses to let it all sink in. It's really a terrific book.
