Summary: I USE THIS EVERY PREGNANCY!
Comment: I'm pregnant with my 3rd baby now, and I still go to this to read what's going on every week. "What to Expect" is good as well, but after you read your info for the month, that's it. (The two together are a great pair.) Week-by-Week gives you something to read every week, and I know we all want to know what's going on right then!! I have fun talking to friends and family about the baby, and being able to tell them just how big he/she is each week.

I believe that knowledge alleviates fear, so being told what problems could happen in pregnancy is great. I would rather be informed with what could happen than know nothing. Other books I've seen have a "when something goes wrong" chapter or something else to that effect. I would rather read about possible problems a little at a time, since most women don't have real problems with pregnancy, than getting the full blow of it all at once and then feeling overwhelmed and REALLY worried.

As for other reviews I read about Dr. Curtis arbitrarily placing topics with different weeks, is it that hard to look in the index and find what you're looking for? Would any book on pregnancy be able to properly place every person's symptoms and problems exactly when they experience them?

I love this book, and always recommend it to friends I hear are pregnant!

Summary: Week-by-week format is very appealing
Comment: My husband and I really enjoyed the week-by-week format of this book. We would flip open the book each Sunday night and read head to see what that week had in store for us and our baby. It became a very special ritual for us as a couple. Other books that also were helpful to us in sharing our pregnancy in this way were The Unofficial Guide to Having a Baby -- 2nd edition (which also follows a week-by-week format); The Pregnancy Journal (which has info about your baby's development on a day-by-day basis); From Conception to Birth (which shows amazing photos about fetal development); and A Child is Born (another great guide to fetal development). We each also had our own favorite pregnancy books. My husband really enjoyed The Expectant Father and She's Having Baby while I really enjoyed The Mother of All Pregnancy Books and The Girlfriend's Guide. As you can see, books were a major budget item for us while I was pregnant, but we were lucky enough to have friends pass on some of these books second hand and I picked up some second hand books online, too. We had to purchase a few of the newer books (like The Unofficial Guide to Having a Baby -- 2nd edition) brand new, however. Still, it was definitely worth it because knowing what was going on with our baby and my body really increased our enjoyment of pregnancy and helped us to feel more prepared for pregnancy, birth, and parenthood.

Summary: Beats the Rest!
Comment: I am pregnant with my first baby and I received this book from a friend. I also recieved 5 other books, but this is the book I read the most. I love the pictures of how the baby is growing. It is a nerve wracking thing when you haven't heard a heart beat, had an US or felt it move, but to know how it might be developing makes it all a little more real. I like the coverage of possible tests you might have to take, as well as the ones you will have for sure.
Not everything can be classified into a particular week, but I felt that the other books that broke it down into a month or whole trimester! made it all too broad. I would read the same paragraph week after week and still be left needing knowledge. This format makes it a something new every week.
I will give this book to my next friend who finds herself pregnant! I think it should come with every positive pregnancy test!!!
