Summary: Airborne all the way !
Comment: For those of you guys who are thinking about joining the armed forces of any country, read this book. I found it well written and it transitioned easily from chapter to chapter. Davis focuses on chronoligcal events as to not lose the reader. The author sucks you into his experiences, starting with day one at boot camp. Davis pulls no punches with the reality of serving in an infantry unit. The forcefulness of his words makes you believe you are right there with him, either in the sniper alleys of Sarejevo, or the killing fields of Rwanda. You will be shocked at some of the atrocities he witnessed, and at other times be touched by the kindness of the people struggling to survive in the war torn areas they call 'home.' There are lots of other books out there about elite units, such as the Navy SEALS or British SAS. But Davis's story hits home because it details life of the regular infantry grunt. The unsung heroes. It tells of the transformation of an earnest young man into a hardend, mature soldier. Definitely a great read. I'm sure many military men will be able to connect with Davis's words.

Summary: I thought you were a role model...
Comment: I'm a private in the Canadian Forces RCR and just finished reading James Davis' book about a month ago and I have to say that it was well written for the most part. I picked it up because I wanted to learn more about overseas tours the Canadian Army participated in and this book told me a lot and will definetely help me to expect the circumstances I have to deal with when I am there. The story is good, dealing with everything from basic training to Sarejevo so I could relate to a bit and I think it would also serve purpose to those who are considering joining the CF.

Summary: An Amazing Story
Comment: I am only 14, but as I read this story of danger and heroism I am touched. This detailed book of the Canadian Forces and one mans life as a sergeant is amazing. It has inspired me to join the Forces when I'm older. It is a book that every student should be required to read. It is a vivid story full of adventures. I read and found it great. I was looking for a book on the Canandian Army in the local library and found this book it looked very interesting so I checked it out. It's the best book I've read in my life!
