Summary: No better than "A Call for Excellence"
Comment: I did a review on "A Call for Excellence" on August 11,2003.This effort is no better than that one, and for the same reasons.
On the cover it states:
"Words of Inspiration from America's Presidents.
From George Washington to George W. Bush"
First of all, there are no quotations at all from 8 of the 43 Presidents. Are we led to believe that none of them ever made a statement about Freedom or Liberty?
Secondly,10 of the quotations say nothing about Freedom or Liberty;the title of the book.
Let me give you a couple of examples:
Pg.85 "There is nothing stable but Heaven and the
Constitution."-- James Buchanan
Pg.115 "Let those who would die for the flag on the field of
battle give a better proof of their patriotism and a
higher glory to their country by promoting fraternity
and justice."--Benjamin Harrison
Pg.117 "Peace is a daily,a weekly,a monthly process,gradually
changing opinions,slowly eroding barriers,building
new structures." --John F.Kennedy
What do any of these quotes have to do with Freedom? Good quotes, but but not about Freedom.
It seems, what this Editor needs is a good editor.Maybe there's a High School Newspaper editor looking for a part-time job--anything would help.
This book appears to be just thrown together, and not worth bothering with.
