Comment: Never has a book of fiction (both long and short stories) changed my life. Songs for the Old Century gave me a perspective on the world that I have the freedom to do anything in life that I want. He [David Payne] proposes, in each tale a real life problem that could exist today or thousands of years ago. It is his gift to keep the reader in a dreamlike world long after they finish the book. Mr. Payne belongs in the ranks of Ernest Hemingway, Arthur Rimbaud, Dorothy Parker, Rudyard Kipling and even Shakespeare!
