Comment: At last I have found a weight-loss book that makes sense. Everytime I'm in a bookstore I cruise the weight-loss section. When I skim through the books, I always see advice like, never eat white flour, don't have a bite of food after 7:30 p.m. and never have a cocktail or glass of wine. Honestly, how can an individual live a real life with this kind of advice!
Over the hollidays at a party, the subject of weight-gain, weight-loss came up and a friend mentioned Jim Karas' The Business Plan for the Body and said that Karas had a new book that had just come out.
I looked for Business Plan but the store was sold out but had just received Karas' new book, Flip the Switch. I bought it and have read it from cover to cover. This is an intelligent piece of writing! One aspect of the book that really grabbed me, was the part where Karas points out that we have all been successful in so many areas of our lives in part because we believed in our ability to be successful. I know I believed I could be an attorney. I didn't approach law school with the attitude that I would flunk out. I never never thought to approach a weight-loss strategy in this manner, but it certainly makes sense.
Furthermore, Karas explains that weight-loss is about assuming responsiblity for our behavior. Too many times we try to blame our genes, our schedules, our gender, our jobs. Jim makes it clear that none of these are germaine. We control our behavior.
And finally, this guy lets you have a life. It doesn't matter when you eat, and in many cases, even what we eat. It's numbers, calories in, calories out. I recommend Flip the Switch to anyone who lives a real life and wants to lose weight.

Summary: The Only Weight Loss Book You'll Ever Need!
Comment: There just seems to be one weight loss book after another these days. It makes me believe that everyone runs from book to book without losing weight. Well, I, too, have a favorite weight loss book. It came out early last year. It's entitled, Flip the Switch: The Secret to Weight Loss and was written by Jim Karas who is Diane Sawyer's weight loss coach. I've seen Karas from time to time on "Good Morning America" and have been quite impressed with his common sense approach to losing weight. In fact he was on "GMA" as recently as Monday, January 5, 2004.
In his book, Flip, he begins by asking you if you're ready to embark on losing weight, he then encourages you to believe in your ability to be successful. You feel he is right beside your side throughout the book. I especially liked his tips on doing strength and resistance exercise. I have incorporated weights and bands into my exercise routine and I have lost 27 pounds in the past 5 months. Please realize that I used to spend an hour a day doing cardio exercise and never, I mean never lost a pound. Now, I spend approximately one hour twice a week on exercise and not only is my weight down, but my posture and body composition are changing before my eyes.
I strongly recommend this book to anyone who desires an effective, empathetic road map to weight loss. I would also encourage readers to check out Karas' website jimkaras.com. I joined a couple of months ago and now Jim calls me once a week to encourage me.
I'm thrilled. He's made Diane Sawyer look terrific and he's doing the same for me. This is the only weight loss book you'll ever need.

Summary: Finally, A Weight Loss Plan That Works
Comment: I bought this book about 5 weeks ago and couldn't put it down. Then, I followed everything the author, Jim Karas, said I should do.
It was SO simple. I did his 7 Day Jump Start Diet and lost 5 pounds the first week. I did the exercise program with these SPRI tubes (they are cheap and so easy to navigate) and I weighed myself every Monday.
If you can believe it, I am down 18 pounds in just 5 weeks. I am so excited about summer because for once, I am proud of my body and not afraid to wear a bathing suit or shorts.
I urge everyone to give this program a try. It works. I have told my cousin (she has always struggled with her weight) and she has been at it for three weeks and is down 10 pounds. My mom is ready to begin on Monday.
Everyone, read it and do it. It will change your life.
