Summary: I haven't seen it since
Comment: I added this book to a recent order so I could get free shipping. I figured for $, I could sit still long enough to read stories about New Yorkers written by a New Yorker. When it came to the office, I opened it up first. It's a cute little book. I read the first story (2 minutes tops), and then the next and the next. It's sharp and slick - and after I spent the first part of my day reading it cover to cover, I lent it to my boss with post its on my favorite pages. I'm back here to order more because I gave it to her, and I haven;t seen it since.

Summary: So Very New York
Comment: Eight Million Stories in a New York Minute (the title is almost as long as some of the stories) really captures what it's like to live here. The pace of the stories is like a speeding cab ride down Broadway and the characters, while written with only a few brush strokes are very real and haunting - they stick with you long after you finish reading.
The size of the book (a little larger than a MetroCard) is great. I can literally keep it in my Day Runner and now I'm never caught without having a little something to read when I'm stuck waiting somewhere.
My favorite stories that I must have read a dozen times are #18 (I think I went out with Ira Tishcoff), #22, #25 and #31.
I wanted to read more from the author and I found her website by doing a search on the web and she does post new stories on her site, but alas! I can't bring my computer around with me as easily as the book. I'm ready for a second volume. Please. Hurry. After all I am an impatient New Yorker.

Summary: Little Golden Book for Adults
Comment: This physically small, saddle-stitched book contains not-so-much stories as story beginnings that are about 400 words long. Instead of fleshed out stories, this tiny book presents about 40 well-written, New York-based vignettes that tug at the corners of the imagination.
