Summary: The RV Buyers Survival Guide
Comment: I found the book overpriced for the value received. After buying and reading the book, I discussed with a friend who is also shopping for an RV. He purchased a similar book, with the same number of pages and content, for less than 1/2 the cover price. I found 2/3rd's of the book "fluff" and common sense, with 1/3 of marginal value.

Comment: When I bought this book, I read a lot of the sales hype surrouding it and believed that I would be best served after reading this book. So I bought a copy and read it (about 50 pages) in one sitting.
What I discovered is that this book is really not that useful if you have already been an experienced car buyer. By that I mean that it does not reveal "tricks" of the trade that are any different from those of the used or new car sales process. If you've ever purchased a new car and are familiar with the concept of the dealer invoice price and what to offer in excess of this undocumented price the same principle applies.
If you've ever been hustled by a car dealer to buy their insurance or buy their financing so they can fattern the sale, the same principle applies to buying an RV.
The sales hype surrounding this book led me to believe that I was going to glean some serious insight into the unique RV market. In fact, the material covered is fairly brief, and I found it to be no different than the material you would probably have learned as an astute buyer of an automobile.
Some sections of the book like the glossary could probably be deleted, this material is readily found in other sources like brochures you get from the dealer, etc.
Save your $20 for snacks or gas to put in your new RV. Just stick to the negotiation principles you learned when buying a new car and arm yourself with the dealer invoice information. That's all I did and successfully bought a $58K Winnebago yesterday.

Comment: We really want to thank you, we pick up our new Rv tomorrow. We picked out a great little Class C motorhome after your book showed us how to find what really fit our needs. Using your advise in the guide as well as your online site, we saved a wopping 21% off the manufacture MSRP. It gave us the needed information to negotiate like old time buyers, instead of "first timers" which we were. Instead of the experience being a nightmare like it was for some friends of ours who took the plunge a few months ago, our experience was a cake walk.
