Summary: True to Life
Comment: i finished reading a project chick---that was one heck of a wrap-up...i enjoyed the book..it was reading as a diary at first, and i was getting turned off - but i always like to finish reading what i started---i am glad that i did...surely miss turner redeemed her writing skills to me in her last 120 pages...a few typos and grammatical errors, but for the most, the editing was on point...her font is very pleasant to the eyes..she gave a REAL acount of a young woman trying to get her life together and she did....
ms turner wrapped up the characters VERY well, not corny, like some other authors....not hollywood and phony...she made the story believable with ALL of her characters.

Summary: Job Well Done for 2nd Time Out
Comment: Everyone knows there is always a lot of pressure when putting out a second book, CD, etc., when the first one did so well. That being said, I have to applaud Nikki Turner for a job well done. Nikki is obviously a writer with great talent and insight into her characters and the community she is writing about. I commend her for bringing their stories to the forefront. A Project Chick is clearly one such story. I just finished the book and thought it was an intelligent approach to a street story. No one else has "represented" for the single moms the way that she has done in this book. Clearly, Nikki Turner writes directly to her audience, which are people from the hood and not corporate boardrooms. That is what makes her writing so good, she can relate to her readers. The book moves at a steady pace but the end was well worth the ride. This book is funny as hell and it's the kind you can easily read on your commute or right before you go to bed. I'm proud to know that such a young author is taking a risk by writing this kind of material and doing a damn good job. What the other two reviewers missed in the editing of the book is that the vocabulary has a street/slang/ebonic flow. The characters are not going to sound like they were raised in a white suburb. Even though it may have appeared to be bad editing, Nikki was keeping the vernacular true to the characters. I can't wait for the third novel and whatever else she writes because I know it will be good.
