Summary: New Thomas Jefferson History
Comment: Although this book is creatively presented as a story, not written in a scholarly manner for presention to a historical journal, it does, in fact, give notice to the world of a new historical breakthrough by this researcher about Thomas Jefferson. Not a biography, it is one of the few books written in years that offers truly new historical information about Jefferson. It uncovers a hitherto secret, but incredibly important achievment by him as our 3rd President (I do not count the Sally Hemings story as important, which anyway, has since been discredited). To understand Thomas Jefferson the author draws on what Jefferson himself read and wrote, taking us on an interesting and educational journey through the historical/philosophical evolution of character and leadership, the common threads that connect America, West Point, and Thomas Jefferson. The practical upshot of this book's nexus between Jefferson, West Point, and American character and leadership is to remind or teach today's skeptical and hostile outside world that America and Americans are something substantially different than the impressions given by movies, television, and multi-national corporations.

Summary: Huge Research on Jefferson, West Point, Character Leadership
Comment: Any fairminded third party who has nothing to gain or lose will recognise this as an extraordinary book that deserves a five star rating. As one who is in the profession of putting old heads onto young shoulders, I would grade this work "A+" for content -- the author obviously did incredibly huge research and reading on Jefferson, West Point, and the philosophy of character and leadership. I would give it an "A" for presention -- it is not only creative, but the only book I have ever seen with a presentation that is engineered. I would give it an "A-" for the writing -- because I prefer standard prose, but recognise how difficult and courageous it is to do something different by writing the way people speak, like the script of a movie, to make you feel that you are there. On balance, it's not a perfect "A+", but still deserves five stars. In my opinion, anyone who would give this book one star is marching to someone else's drummer. See for yourself. Read the book.

Summary: All who love America ought to experience this book
Comment: "West Point:Thomas Jefferson:Character,Leadership,Education" by Norman Thomas Remick not only breaks new history about Thomas Jefferson, West Point, and America, but puts it back together. The author employs a creative and fascinating approach to do so, presenting his extensive research as a story which I found to be enjoyable and educational. I certainly recommend that all who love America ought to experience this book.
