Summary: Effective Preparation Tool for Great Price
Comment: First of all, you can't beat the price for three full-length DAT exams that simulate the computer-based format. The simulation is exactly like the actual test, with some nice bonus features.
The TopScore Pro is a good indicator of your success on the actual DAT, except for the science sections. In the sciences it is considerably more difficult. In the other sections, I found it to be very closely correlated. For example, I scored 14-17 for the sciences on the TopScore. On the actual exam, I scored 22, 21, 23 for Bio, Gen. Chem., and Org. Chem. respectively. It is good to know this ahead of time, or you may be unnecessarily discouraged with your science scores. For reference, I had been out of my undergraduate sciences for about 7-8 years.
As with preparation for any important exam, do not rely on any one preparation tool. The TopScore Pro is most effective when combined with other forms of preparation. The Schaum's outlines for the sciences are excellent, easy to read, and give you exactly what you need to review. Kaplan books and CD-ROMs are mediocre in my opinion. I never took an actual preparation course. I believe it is a huge waste of money - paying $1300 for someone else to cheer you on in your studying. The Barron's DAT book was actually very helpful for me early on in my preparation. Its science sections correlate more closely to the actual exam than TopScore Pro.
Overall, the TopScore Pro was great preparation for me immediately before the DAT. Its exams helped show my weak areas in the final hours. And it prepared me for what to expect when I sat in front of the computer screen before the real test. I would highly recommend this product to anyone.

Summary: The REAL Truth About the DAT
Comment: OK, it's time to set the record straight. I remembered reading about TopScore on amazon and ...that TopScore's practice tests are EXACTLY like the real DAT. So I ...ordered the cd. AFter taking the real test, these are my thoughts:
1) The cd is good, very similar, but NOT exactly like the real DAT. Trust me.
2) The Perceptual part is WAY harder on the real test. The cd is too easy. I can't tell you how to practice for it, but PRACTICE. The angle ranking on the real thing is crazy. ... At least the Topscore cd has the same format.
3) ... Biology is a tricky subject because there are an infinite number of questions they can ask. Know it all.
4) The reading is very different than the cd rom. The cd's questions were straight forward, on the real thing the questions are like "what is the author trying to say?" and stuff like that.
5) Expect the unexpected. I mean just because they tell you all the articles in the reading section are scientific, doesn't mean they are... I know mine weren't!

Summary: Review from a Returning Student
Comment: I have been out of college for almost 3 years. This disk was so helpful in preparing me for the DAT.I never planned on going to dental school so I was deficent on my biology courses. The only biology I have taken is general and that was in my Freshman year. It gave me an idea of what kind of questions I would need to be prepared for. It however does not have review material so I bought Schaums Biology book. It was great. Also, this CD was really helpful in reviewing for the quanitative review portion. I haven't done basic math in so long that I definetly needed a review. I don't agree with the other reviews about the PAT section. The questions were very much like the ones on this CD. I made exactly the same score as I made on everyone of the practice tests. All in all I did well. My academic average was 20 and my PAT was 18.
