Summary: provocative, complete explanation of the Book of Revelation
Comment: Wes McComb is a dear friend and devout Christian, who has written a provocative book in the long line of people of faith who have seen the Book of Revelation as a direct message for their own times. The book is written with wit, and humility, and asks us to see the glory of Jesus Christ throughout "Revelation," no matter what else we may or may not see in it. Wes' humility allows him to admit readily that he may be "joining the thousands" who have been mistaken about this fascinating, apocalyptic book. He is also correct in noting, as I can tell you from my own experience, that "your agreement with [his] views is not required for you to find fulfillment in this book." (p.1) With painstaking detail, the author works through "Revelation," chapter by chapter, finding and discerning explanations for the often-confusing symbolism and numerology. With a sense of history, and concern for our future under God, he guides us to understand, at the least, that God is involved in all of our world affairs, outward appearances notwithstanding. Perhaps most controversial is the author's fascinating, unique conviction that the "sixth seal" will be opened this year, 1999, with a nuclear holocaust. Whether or not that actually happens, "When All Heaven Breaks Loose" will challenge you to see and think about things in a new way, and to remember the truth that the book of "Revelation," shows us the glory of Jesus, and that the bottom line is: Jesus wins.
