Rating: 5
Summary: a must have
Comment: Concise review of medical legal issues facing physcians today.
Has completely changed the way I practice.

Rating: 5
Summary: Most complete guide to understanding medical legal processes
Comment: This book is one a kind...it offers the most clear and concise guide to understanding how the medical profession functions in a legal environment. The author very clearly has a vast knowledge base from which to draw upon. The book starts with an overview of the laws and the court system. It then covers important topics such as physician licensing, regulation and discipline, the priveleged doctor-patient relationship, informed consent, maintaining medical records and releasing medical records. Specific scenarios are reviewed for the private practitioner, hospital based practitioner and managed care settings. Of particular interest to me was the section on physicians as expert witnesses and testifying in depositions, hearings and in court. My medical school and residency training provided no education on these subjects or any of the mentioned topics. Sample medical malpractice interrogatories are listed in the book so that you may have an awareness of the types of questions and information that is sought during a deposition. The book also covers the subject of medical malpractice insurance and the process of filing a malpractice claim. After reading this book, you will feel much more confident about how you practice medicine and will experience peace of mind in knowing how to conduct your career within a legal framework. I highly recommend this book to all physicians, residents and medical students, and all individuals who work in the medical field. How did we ever get along without it!
