Summary: Rich With Metaphor and Imagry
Comment: In this eclectic collection of articles written by the late Rich Mullins, each message is stuffed with poetic imagery and deep ruminations. Rich was a recklessly controlled artist; his music reflects this. His writing, like a whirlwind, will stop you, spin you around, and sit you down long enough to force you to think about the meaning of life and what God has to do with it. Rich confesses with passionate honesty in his article "Washing at Dusk": "I would never be mistaken for a stained glass saint, though at 7 AM I might be grey and grotesque as a gargoyle." Little did he know.

Summary: Writing almost as poignant as his songs
Comment: This book is, like many things associated with Rich Mullins, far too short. Rich's articles were as honest and soulful as his music, and after reading this collection one wishes that he were still around to be counseling, comforting, and most of all singing about the God he so dearly loved. Anyone familiar with Rich's music should own this book -- it gives yet another glimpse into the heart and spirit of this modern-day saint.

Summary: Rich's prose
Comment: Rich Mullins once said that there were things he wanted to say, but he couldn't figure out how to make them rhyme for his songs. Fortunately for us, Release magazine decided to give Rich just such a forum. Rich's last page colums ran in Release magazine from 1991 through 1996. This book contains al of the articles plus a brief overview of Rich's life and work, and an afterword by Rich's producer, Reed Arvin. Mixing stories from his life with Scripture and quotes from other Christians, Rich never failed to turn out an engaging and though provoking article. Gorgeously illustrated with photographs from Ruch's longtime friend, Ben Pearson, the book is a testament to a unique voice that left us all too soon. If you enjoy Rich's music and ever had the chance to see him in concert, then you will enjoy this book.
