Summary: Truthful Southern History
Comment: I am a history major at WSU in Washington state and I used this book, "Truths of History", by Mildred Lewis Rutherford to write my term paper in a History class at YVCC in Yakima, Wa.
Being from the great state of Georgia, I look at the antibellum time as a great time of America. The War for Southern Independence, known as the Civil War, has spurned many debates and manys myths. Ms. Rutherford's book helps to point out unknown facts that support the Southern cause of secession. There are many points of references and documents that one can use to back up what she says, which have been included in the book.
It has been well known that the winner of any war writes the history of said war. The North won the war and wrote the history of the war. Thus, the North paints the South as a vindicative people, all slave owners, and greedy elitists. Ms. Rutherford's helps to put the truth into perspective.
I would recommend this book to anyone, whether a student or not, to learn more of the truth of history during and after the War for Southern Independence.
