Comment: This book is wonderful in informing the reader about the dangers of consuming another one of mans processed foods, milk. Once man steps in to mass produce a product at the expense of nutrients we have a disease promoting food. The pasturization, homogenation, skimming, antibiotics and growth hormones in modern processed milk does make it a poison. It contributes to indigestion and ultimately disease. Heating milk destroys vitamins, digestive enzymes, denatures proteins and fats.
Unfortunately the author fails to address the exact opposite effect on health when addressing the beautiful health effects of drinking RAW milk. All digestive enzymes intact for digestion, all nutrients fully absorbed, natural fat content for flavour and stimulation of bile salts to absorb the calcium. RAW milk is a super nutritious food, and especially when fermented. Kefir made from RAW milk will literally turn you into a different person. If you want the facts on milk and nutrition in general, I would recommend reading Weston Price's book, "Nutrition and Physical Degeneration", Sally Fallon and Mary Enig's cookbook, "Nourishing Traditions" and Mary Enig's book, "Know Your Fats" Untill you begin to consume RAW dairy products(milk, cream, butter) I would recommend staying away from them. If you must consume processed milk I would recommend making kefir out of it. And I would recommend taking a good digestive enzyme supplement with your processed butter.

Comment: I recently became interested in learning more about milk when I stumbled upon a website claiming that milk is horrible for you. I ended up purchasing this book so that I could learn about the dangers of milk.
I was disappointed with this book, because it is not a very good introduction to the topic. It is a short summary, and although references are given, the book lacks explanation for most of the symptoms listed. This book would be more appropriate for children/teenagers. If you are looking for a thorough and convincing investigation into the hazards of drinking milk, this is not your book. At least, it didn't convince me. Also, in my opinion, the price for this book is about twice what it should be.

Summary: Not Science - Buyer Beware
Comment: Natural milk -- without growth hormones, antibiotics, and other additives -- is one of the most perfect foods on Earth. Numerous societies around the world keep dairy livestock, drink a lot of milk each day, and are a whole lot healthier than the average American. The world's nomadic pastoralists and agro-pastoralists who drink large amounts of plain milk every day tend to have longer, stronger bones and sturdier teeth, lack osteoporosis, live longer, and have rosy complexions. The difference is the growth hormones and other dangerous additives that the modern milk industry feeds and injects cattle. It's not the MILK that causes disease, but the CHEMICALS in milk. I repeat: the MILK is GOOD for you, but the ADDITIVES are deadly. This book would have you throw out the baby with the bath, which is ridiculous! You don't have to stop drinking milk in order to avoid the problems caused by milk additives, if you simply buy milk that doesn't have any additives in it!!! Does that make sense, or does that make sense? It turns out this author wants people to stop drinking milk because he is an animal rights activist and has some sort of very odd ideological agenda involving abhorrence of milk in general. Milk is GOOD FOR YOU! Just make sure you drink organic milk that clearly states there are no growth hormones, antibiotics, etc. in it! Commercial milk with all the additives truly is deadly--so are a host of other foods with additives. But natural milk the way God made it is healthy and a perfect food. It is a shame that this author has written a book that is bound to confuse people about milk. Organic milk and raw milk do not have any chemicals in them, and are really good for you!
