Summary: Excellent Book for Non-Muslims, Muslim, and Muslim Converts!
Comment: This is one of the books that are worth your time and money. Coming from a real experience and describing a very common story.. I recommend that everybody reads this book to have an idea about Islam and what it's really about.
Islamic laws are not concealed; they are there for everybody who is interested, and has the ability to read and understand, and this book illustrates that in a very clear way. There are no "Hidden Facts" in Islam, this is exactly why you see alot of people converting to Islam all around the world, despite what the disbeleivers think and try to prove using quotes from the Quran and presenting them in a way that is not based on the reason these verses were introduced for.
As an example, Islam states that women have half of the rights of men in witness. That's because women are built different, they are more emotional and softhearted, therefore, and because Allah (swt) is aware of his own creation. He (swt) stated that two women should witness instead of one in court, because, if one of them had doubts and felt sorry for the convict, and regretted being the reason for having him put in jail or perhaps executed (something that a true Muslim man wouldn't feel guilt for or even think about), the other woman would correct her.
Islam does not teach that women are bad omen, quiet the opposite, Islam is the only religion that stated clearly that Women are not to be blamed for human beings leaving heaven and living on earth.
Allah (swt) says: And among His signs is that He created for you mates from among yourselves, that you may dwell with them in tranquility, and He has put love and mercy between you. Indeed, in this are signs for those who reflect. (30:21) Islam teaches that women would be harmful to men only when they are considered inferior, and wrongly treated, and this is not in Islam in any way.
Islam is a way of life consonant with nature, providing human solutions to complex situations and avoiding extremes. This is why Polygamy was presented in Islam. Islam permits the Muslim to marry more than one woman in order to resolve some very pressing human problems, individual as well as social. There are many reasons that might cause a man to think about Polygamy, like among human beings one finds that individual who has a strong desire for children but whose wife is barren, chronically ill, or has some other problems. Would it not be more considerate on her part and better for him to marry a second wife who can bear him children, while retaining the first wife with all her rights guaranteed? There are also times when women outnumber men. In such a situation' it is in the interests of the society and of women themselves that they become co-wives to a man instead of spending their entire lives without marriage. Only three possible alternatives exist for such surplus women who are not married as first wives: a) to pass their whole lives in bitter deprivation, b) to become sex objects and playthings for lecherous men; or c) to become co-wives to men who are able to support more than one wife and who will treat them kindly.
Unquestionably, the last alternative is the correct solution, a healing remedy for this problem, and that is the judgement of Islam: And Who is better than Allah in judgement, for a people who have certain faith? (5:53 (50) )
Islam stated clearly that a man should be able to provide the same rights to his wives. Anyone who lacks the assurance that he will be able to fulfill all obligations towards all his wives with justice and equality is prohibited by Allah Ta'ala from marrying more than one woman, for Allah Ta'ala says: ...But if you fear that you will not be able to do justice (among them), then (marry) only one....(4:3)
Allah Ta'ala also says: And you will not be able to do justice among (your) wives, however much you may wish to. But do not turn away (from one of them) altogether....(4:139)
I advise everybody to buy this book, and other books about Islam and people who converted to Islam, it puts you on the right track to Islam, the most loving and most tolerant, atleast that's how almost 2/5th of this world see it.

Summary: Every Muslim woman should read this book.
Comment: I am not a converted Muslim, but as a Muslim who lives in this society, I could relate to the majority of the experiences of this book. I finished this book cover to cover in three days, because I could not put it down. There were parts where I had to look away from the text, because I could not read through my tears, however. It is a wonderful book that brings the reader into the lives of the women whose stories are being told. For anyone interesting in learning about real, true, practiced Islam-- this is definately one of the first books you should read.

Summary: Wonderful viewpoint of Islam from a non-Islamic perspective
Comment: I read this book before I gave it to my mother when I told her I had reverted to Islam. It explains Islam in a very basic way that anyone can understand, since it is geared toward non-Muslims. It also helped me put into words things I wanted to tell my mother about my religion when I told her of my reversion. I also felt more comfortable knowing there are lots of women in the U.S. who were going through a similar situation as I, with their mothers! I felt less alone, and more supported just by knowing they were out there.
