Comment: Compulsory reading for anyone planning a family trip to Europe, this book covers every aspect of a trip right from the planning stages. In addition to the expected suggestions on great places to take kids (and which places to avoid), and what to take, the authors discuss such things as "Why take your kids at all?", how long to go for... how to get your kids out of school...how to go about renting out your house or investigating the possibility of house swapping...coping with family relationships on the road...how where and when to shop in each country. Also included are systems for estimating a realistic budget and much advice on how keep costs down. I found the resource list at the end of the book especially time saving; this includes a list (with ISBN) numbers of all other publications mentioned in the text, such as guidebooks, and background reading, as well as contacts for camping, airfares, car rental, home exchange and European home rentals, and a list of National Tourist Offices' US addresses. I eagerly await the next edition of this book, as the current edition was published in 1994.
