Summary: A useful book for parents, though now somewhat dated.
Comment: The late Aaron Fink, a California urologist, wrote this book in 1988 in reaction to the disinformation coming from the anti-circumcision activists of his region. Although he overstates the case for circumcision by relying too heavily on case reports, Fink nevertheless provides a wealth of information on the benefits--both demonstrated and potential--in this book. Since its publication, a number of the potential benefits have been confirmed. Fink was an early proponent of the theory between the lack of circumcision and HIV--the AIDS virus. The majority of studies on circ. and HIV have since confirmed this association. Protection against penile cancer, ulcerative STDs (e.g.,syphillis and chancroid), urinary tract infections, phimosis, paraphimosis, balanoposthitis (infections under the foreskin) are other demonstrated benefits. On the other hand, protection against cervical cancer, non-ulcerative STDs, prostatic cancer remain unproven. Now out of print and somewhat dated, Fink's book is still useful to parents to see the positive side to circumcision that they will not find in any of the books written by the anti-circumcision cult

Summary: A very odd book
Comment: Dr. Fink passed away a number of years ago, however he shall always be remembered for his vanguard backlash of America's trend towards the dismissal of circumcision as a routine birth ritual. I only wish we could have a book reviewing the late doctor's obsession with this topic and is admitted hours in the library amassing pro-circumcision papers.

The book is no longer available which is acceptable since I did read it and found it not worth the paper it was written on.
