Summary: An extremely interesting read!!
Comment: I had heard a lot about "Temporary Marriage" in Islam, but never before have I read an accurate, detailed account of it. Rather than judging the institution as good or bad, Murata presents it objectively and in its technical details. The reader may judge for him or herself whether temporary marriage beats out the modern "dating-couple" phenomena, which also looks like a kind of "temporary marriage" to some degree, only without a safety net for dignity.
