Comment: I picked this up in NOLA when my wife and I were there after we got married and I think I read it in just a few hours. This reads like most of Gifford's fiction: Fast. But it was a nice change of pace to read something by him in the first person with a strong sense of his own life. it is easy to see, after reading this book, why Gifford became a writer. I still prefer his fiction, but this is a welcome insight into a man's past that doesn't fall into the melancholy of so many memoirs or the blatant navel gazing of that so-called "Staggering Genius". Worth the time it would take to hunt it down.
