Summary: A Landmark in Healthcare
Comment: Dr. Wiley has accomplished what NO other researcher/practitioner in the field of the food-mood-health connection has accomplished. He has uncovered the mechanism underlying metabolic diversity and how to nutritionally treat the biochemical imbalances that result from that diversity. While other authors may lay claim to understanding metabolic diversity, let me assure you (as a physician) that none understand it except for Dr. Wiley. BioBalance is a Godsend. Don't waste your time reading all the nonsense on the food-mood-health connection (except for Dr. Wiley's book). Don't bother with psychotherapy - it is a fraud! Yes, re-read that phrase even though though it may seem harsh. Psychotherapy is a fraud. My deepest regret is that I didn't turn on to BioBalance 20 years ago when I first opened my practice. Why hasn't the international press and media made BioBalance a household word? Given the love affair the media have with their darlings, it's no great surprise that this book - this incredible GIFT - has been by and large overlooked. It is not "hip" or "trendy" and it does not pull any punches. It also has many good references based upon clinical studies as well as mathematical text for the scholarly reader, yet the book is very readable at every level. No blood tests are needed even though BioBalance did start off based upon correlations between various health indecis and blood test results. Determining your metabolic type takes but a few minutes and your biocompatible diet is listed right in the book! I don't know what more the reader could ask for. As Dr. Hagglund, M.D. (the author of the book's Foreword) states, "Throw away your knee-jerk reactions. We know too little about healthcare to stand in the way of this incredible book!" I would suggest that you also throw away all of your other books on the effects of food upon mental and physical health. Next to BIOBALANCE, they are all pretentious junk!

Summary: 3 STRIKES and YOU're OUT!
Comment: Forget the 1 and 2 star reviews from California and Australia (below) respectively. They obviously just don't get it even though Dr. Wiley has made it abundantly clear how you can go about determining your metabolic profile WITHOUT blood tests, and why his acid/alkaline classification subsumes all others currently being hawked by the popular food-mood-health gurus and talking heads. For heaven's sake, my 12 year-old daughter deciphered her profile after reading the book (which took her all of about 1 hour). How much simpler could Dr. Wiley have made it! Obviously not simple enough for some folks. Perhaps a cartoon version with 1 syllable words is the level of simplicity required by some folks.
At any rate, the fact that BioBalance Therapy has not been given the international name recognition it richly deserves is the real tragedy here. Based upon 1st hand experience and statistics, this tragedy translates into a daily loss of countless lives, and the waste of billions of dollars in make-shift cures, psychotherapy, and other assorted superstitions and ritual mutilations. Who's to blame for this? Surely not Dr. Wiley who has selflessly dedicated the better part of his life thus far to uncovering the rigorous relationship between metabolic function on the one hand, and physical and mental health on the other. One can only blame the media, "the street" (aka the layperson seeking instantaneous enlightenment), and our educational system.
How so?
STRIKE 1! No, BioBalance Therapy cannot be described as "crisp," "trendy," "pert," "snappy," "hip," "sexy," etc., all terms used in describing the current entourage of the media's darling cash cows.
STRIKE 2! Similarly, while Dr. Wiley has succeeded admirably in making BioBalance Therapy comprehensible to a child, its simplicity to date still cannot be reduced to an inane sound-byte ("Don't worry! Be happy!") Alas, the public (i.e., "the street") with its increasingly limited attention span, must have it's sugar-coated sound-bytes. ("Guy, like 3 different metabolic types, each with its own diet! Like, guy, that's just so-o-o weird. Like gag me with a spoon!")
STRIKE 3! Our educational system has failed abysmally in training our young people to think either deductively or inductively. Most people don't even know the difference between the 2. Let's face it, if you manage to get through school without shooting a teacher or raping a guidance counselor, you'll get a passing grade. Don't befuddle youth's collective mind with logic, syllogisms, and inductive/decuctive thought. 1st and foremost, we want our young people to "feel good about themselves." Anything else is strictly superfluous.
Against such odds, any substantive advance in knowledge such as BioBalance is destined to failure, eclipsed by trendy sound-bytes hawked by the usual array of talk-show hosts, media personalities and talking heads, replete with crying women, and clever parlor tricks. I dread to think where we'd be today if Dr. Wiley's intellectual counterarts like Galileo, Newton and Einstein had lived in the pop-culture climate within which we find ourselves. Let me guess, we'd still be in the Dark Ages, living in what Dr. Carl Sagan called "The Demon Haunted World."
As Dr. Wiley so ably points out in his review, read the book, get well, then GET ANGRY!
P.S. Dr. Wiley's book deserves 6 stars, but I'm limited to 5 only.

Summary: No pH tests needed
Comment: I had to laugh aloud at the reviewer who complained that too many pH tests were involved in determining his metabolic profile. No such tests are required in order to obtain an accurate, life-changing result. Perhaps the reviewer was confused by Dr. Wiley's use of polysyllabic words. Perhaps the reviewer forgot to read the book before he rated it. I would also like to respond to the reviewer who said that the information in Dr. Wiley's book was contrary to what he found on the internet. As everyone knows, the internet is always a definitive source for all information, as all sites are checked daily for accuracy. Obviously, this is not true. I would suggest that something as critical as one's total well-being be researched thoroughly from sources outside the internet. If the information in Dr. Wiley's book was so widely-known that all internet sites aggreed with his findings, not only would it be pointless to write a book on this subject, but everyone would be aware of how completely Biobalance can improve your mental and physical health. Dr. Wiley's work has not been called "revolutionary" because it corresponds with what people think they already know. I give Dr. Wiley's book 5 stars for both his accuracy and straight-forward approach. I can absolutely recommend this book in good conscience.
