Summary: Poor Little Squee!!
Comment: I enjoyed Jhonen Vasquez' "I Feel Sick" mini-series, so when I saw the Squee trade-paperback, I picked it up, not knowing what to expect...
Well, I certainly wasn't expecting it to be one of the best Comics I've ever read, but that's just what it was.
The first half of the book is comprised of Squee stories- Squee is a little boy whose parents have no use for him; he is pursued by Aliens & Monsters, pushed around by bullies, and his only friend is the new kid at school....who just happens to be the Son of The Devil...
I had no problem immediately falling in love with little Squee- He's so CUTE! (And who wouldn't identify with the childhood fear of waking up facing the wall.....with your back exposed to potential monster-attack!)
The other half of the book is comprised of short strips from Vasquez' Johnny the Homicidal Maniac comic. The "Meanwhile" strips are worth the purchase price alone. My favorite concerns a man on a first date who finds his stomach-ache turning into unexpected....Diarrhea. The way he attempts to explain this had me laughing for about 10 solid minutes.
This book has made me a Jhonen Vasquez fan for life, and I hope that I can get some other people to give this incredibly gifted creator a try.

Summary: MUST GET THIS BOOK!
Comment: Personally, I have not seen the big book version. I own the indivitual comics myself but all in all I believe they are basically the same. Being a complete Jhonen obsessor, it is hard not to love this book but I assure you, even if you have no idea who the heck Jhonen Vasquez (He has created Jhonny the Homicidal Maniac, Invader Zim, I Feel Sick, etc) is you'll be falling off your chair in horrific laughter. Squee! (No typo, it's suppose to end in an exclamation mark) is a comic about a yound boy by the name of Todd, better known as Squee. His parents hate him, he has no friends (unless you count Satan's son and a homicidal maniac), and he spends plenty of time talking to his freakish teddy bear, Shmee. Just to make things worse, anything that's terrifying, horrific, grotesque, or down-right bad has happened to him. From being chased by aliens, to being almost eaten by grand-fathers, to zombie attacks, this little boy has seen it all. It seems the only thing that helps him through it is Shmee. Jhonen is a pure genius. His work is amazing. Just a warning: This book's humor is a tad twisted. It is not meant for the weak. Overall, get this book!

Summary: good LDS teens and parents beware
Comment: If you've seen invader zim, you'll love it. I gave this book such a low rating for one thing: language! There is an average of a curse word a page. Not just the usual slang, but things like the "f" word and other "hardcore" cuss words. It would be so much funnier w/o those words.
