Rating: 5
Summary: for smart kids
Comment: Fup is a wonderfully funny and bittersweet book that really should be read outloud, I read it to my son when he was ten - carefully editing the few obscenities - and we roared with laughter. Dodge is an honerable heir to Vonnegut (my son , now 12, extremely enjoyed "Stone Junction")- the tales are so goofy , and the charactors are quite endearing. As a previous reviewer said, this should be a must-read for teen-agers . Not a slight to adults , but a recognition that Dodge is - like Vonnegut - a neat introduction to the conflicts of identity and choices that maturity encompasses

Summary: Fup
Comment: Fup is a book rare in that it functions as an oral history--I was surprised to read here that so many people had read it out loud to each other and given it away--I gave my first copy away and met someone two years later who had it--and gave it back to me. Fup is best read aloud, to friends, on road trips, alone. I don't think you can compare Fup to Dodge's other two novels, which are indeed excellent in their own ways, because Fup is different than almost any other book you will ever read. Buy it and pass it on.

Summary: The Best I Ever Read...Next To FONTANA & LONESOME DOVE
Comment: I stumbled on FUP a few years ago at a book store. This is an incredibly imaginative book with rich, deep characters, even though you can read it in just a few hours. I loved the book and its characters so much I began giving copies of it to my friends and family for birthdays and things like that. It is the best book I have read with the exception of Siegfried Brian Barger's June 2003 novel, FONTANA, and Larry McMurtry's LONESOME DOVE. I cannot recommend FUP enough.
