Summary: Questionable Approach
Comment: I was excited to start this study as a part of the group I'm involved in at church. As we dug deeper into the first chapter I questioned one of the side notations that didn't seem to "click". Upon further reserach I discovered that what the authors were stating as fact was actually "a commonly held belief". The authors didn't present any real evidence to back up their statement, we were just supposed to accept it. When we got into the second chapter, "Lot's Wife", the leaps of assumption grew. They seemed to be twisting things to fit a preconceived notion they had about Lot's wife in order to make their point. It was clear that much of what they couched in "maybes" they really wanted you to believe and there weren't facts to back it up. By the time we arrived at the third chapter my frustration was at an all-time high as the authors insisted on spoon feeding us the answers to their questions throughout the study, as my co-participants in the study voiced similar frustrations and concerns, and as the negative approach they started the study on Rebekah with just cemented things. I would not recommend this study to anyone.
