Summary: But I don't live in Japan!
Comment: Most folks who are interested in pursuing Macrobiotics already know that the principles were developed on the Japanese lifestyle. This booklet gives some very general advice, and was not helpful to me because it did not offer any specific ways to make the transition, or offer any substitutes for ingredients commonly found in Asia that may not be readily available in the US, or are just so rare in some regions, that they are very expensive.

Additionally, the produce in the US in most cases is not organic, and it is difficult to understand how the "energy" in your food is going to benefit the body when its "energy" is corrupted by radiation, pesticides, and modern day farming techniques that value quantity over quality. Aside from "buy organic," this booklet doesn't offer many other suggestions.

American lifestyle can make it difficult for people achieve the goals of macrobiotics on a limited budget. This book did not address my challenges on transitioning to macrobiotcs very effectively.

Comment: This book was informative, but it really didn't go into much detail. I was looking for specifics. I didn't learn any thing I couldn't find out on the internet or with common sense.

Comment: This is a great starting point for a beginner who wants to make the transition. It is a very non-judgemental approach and easy to follow.
