Comment: This book provides a slice of Baptist history without regard to a chronological time table. The continuity promised by the Savior's statement "the gates of hell shall not prevail against it" (My church) are taken literally by the authors. The price paid by faithful Baptists through the years to secure and practice religious freedom is well documented in cases of those who suffered persecution and martyrdom for the preservation of truth. The Baptist's view of Scripture, the ordinances, polity and perpetuity are all clearly and concisely taught through illustrations that grip the heart. The document is completed foot-noted with a tremendously lenghy bibliography. This is "must reason" for those who are seriously interested in the subject of Baptist history.
